Tuesday 18th - Respect to Carl Wilson

In the interests of time we did not trek to Uncle Johns for breakfast, but went to the Corner Bakery - the little coffee shop just outside the hotel and had a scrambled egg dish, coffee, juice and toast.
Fuelled for the day, we set out to Westwood, specifically the Westwood Memorial Park to see the memorial stone for Beach Boy Carl Wilson.

We did not realise that there was parking on site, so we sneaked into the car park of the drug store opposite, which we attended and free for the drug store customers. We bought some water! The attendant surely saw us then wander off elsewhere, but we did not get charged.

It is hard to believe that Carl Wilson would have celebrated his 72nd birthday on Friday, a birthday he shares with Minty (the same day, not the same year as she is not 72 - obviously!!).

What a calm and quiet place Westwood Memorial Park is, despite it being near a major road and in the middles of a busy residential area. Rather than trapse over the whole park, we asked in reception where could we find Carl's place. The staff at the memorial park could not have been more kind and helpful, and actually took us to the location.

A silent prayer was said, and The Beeb laid down one of his plectrums.

We did have a look around and found Natalie Wood, Minnie Ripperton and "Hogan Hero" Bob Crane. We found out afterwards that Marilyn Monroe is also buried there. Minty would have liked to have said hello to her.
