Friday 21st - Minty's Birthday dinner in Cerritos

The drive from Forest Lawn was literally minutes and we found the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts no bother. We were feeling a bit hungry by now, so we got our tickets from the box office where they were being held, and walked the short distance to a retail type park.

The first restaurant we found was TGIs but as they have very little (if anything) for vegetarians we moved to the next one..... Mimi's Cafe. The Beeb just asked the staff straight out if they did anything vegetarian while Minty looked at the menu. The staff had complete blank looks on their faces when Minty pointed out that their menu said they would substitute any meat patty in their burgers for a veggie one and they scrambled to look at the menu options. Minty was astounded that they did not know their menu and seemed totally surprised that the substitute option was available. We walked away in disbelief.

Across the way was a place called Islands and we could not have been made to feel more welcome.

There was a definite tropical and surf theme, with surfing competitions being shown on the big screens and surfing prints all around the walls.

They had plenty of options for a veggie, so The Beeb was pleased and really enjoyed his "Veggie Bowl".

Birthday Dessert treat for Minty was a Root Beer Float.
