Sunday 16th - We have arrived

Customs clearance in the US is so different to what we are used to....

At the American Airlines Terminal it is all automated with passport scans, photos taken and printed on a customs card.  Having your photo taken when you have emerged from a 10.5 hour flight and a bit dishevelled is not a good photo opp!! Imagine what the mugshot would be like!!!

Then you collect your luggage, after which a human siphons you off into one of three queues. No idea if it is arbitrary or if there is some method........ whichever it was, we ended up in the agricultural check queue.
Once the customs agent fingerprinted us, photographed us (again) and was satisfied we did not have any chickens smuggled in our cases, we were through and off to find our car rental place.

A couple of hours later, we were in Downtown LA and checked into the same hotel were stayed in last time we were here - the Omni. This is quite plush, in the heart of the financial district, with one entrance on California Plaza and the other (main) entrance on South Olive Street. Room 1541 has a fab view of The Disney Concert Hall.

After a quick freshen up, we found a place to park the car overnight,  and then grabbed a cab and headed out to Pasadena for our first meet up with friends.
